Guy Montag was a fireman whose job it was to start fires... The system was simple. Everyone understood it. Books were for burning... along with the houses in which they were hidden. Guy Montag enjoyed his job. He had been a fireman for ten years, and he had never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs nor the joy of watching pages consumed by flames... never questioned anything until he met a seventeen-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid. Then he met a professor who told him of a future in which people could think... and Guy Montag suddenly realized what he had to do!

Olvasói vélemények összefoglalója
Readers largely regard Fahrenheit 451 as a thought-provoking and strikingly relevant classic, praising its warnings about conformity, mass entertainment, cultural decline, and the loss of meaningful conversation. Many find Ray Bradbury’s atmosphere vivid and unsettling, while the emotional intensity and the protagonist’s gradual awakening leave a lasting impression. Several readers also admire the author’s distinctive, imaginative style and consider the book an essential work of science fiction and dystopian literature.
The response is not universally positive: some readers find the prose overly ornate or sentimental, the dialogue too explicit, and the narrative compressed, uneven, or difficult to follow. A few feel that the characters and ideas are not developed deeply enough, while readers of editions containing additional stories often find those pieces mixed in quality. Overall, Fahrenheit 451 is best suited to readers who enjoy classic dystopias, strong social criticism, and books that invite reflection, even if its style and execution may divide opinion.
Vmiért kurvajól megsejtette a jövő társadalmát: a fogyasztói kultúrát, a könnyed szórakozásra épülő nihilista életet, a kultura hanyatlását, a tömegmédia és úgy összességében a ZAJ felemelkedését.
