From seat No.9, Hercule Poirot was ideally placed to observe his fellow air passengers. To his right sat a pretty young woman, clearly infatuated with the man opposite; ahead, in seat No.13, sat a Countess with a poorly-concealed cocaine habit; across the gangway in seat No.8, a detective writer was being troubled by an aggressive wasp. What Poirot did not yet realize was that behind him, in seat No.2, sat the slumped, lifeless body of a woman… ‘It will be a very acute reader who does not receive a complete surprise at the end.’ Times Literary Supplement

Olvasói vélemények összefoglalója
Readers generally regard Death in the Clouds as a charming, comfortingly light Poirot mystery, with the unusual airplane setting adding extra interest. Many enjoyed the intricate investigation, misdirection, and surprises, often finding the culprit difficult to identify in advance. Poirot’s presence at the center of the case was especially entertaining for fans of the character.
The main criticism is the pacing: some readers found the opening slow and felt that the detailed lists, descriptions, and methodical investigation occasionally became tedious. Even so, most considered Death in the Clouds an enjoyable choice for readers seeking a relaxed, classic mystery with a clever puzzle and a familiar detective.
